  • Author: Andria
  • Total Time: 33 minutes
  • Yield: 24 deviled egg halves 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

These California Roll Deviled Eggs are a creative twist on the classic deviled eggs, inspired by the flavors of a California sushi roll. Creamy, spicy wasabi-infused yolk filling topped with fresh crab meat, avocado, cucumber, radishes, and a sprinkle of black sesame seeds creates a delightful and visually appealing appetizer perfect for parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Eggs & Filling

  • 1 dozen eggs
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons wasabi paste
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Toppings & Garnishes

  • ½ cup cooked crab meat
  • 1 avocado, thinly sliced
  • ½ cucumber, thinly sliced
  • Radishes, thinly sliced
  • Black sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs: Place eggs in a large saucepan and add enough cold water to cover them by about 1 inch. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, cover the pan, remove it from heat, and let the eggs stand in the hot water for 13 minutes to cook through.
  2. Cool the eggs: Drain the hot water and transfer the eggs to an ice-water bath. Let them chill until completely cold to stop cooking and make peeling easier.
  3. Peel and halve the eggs: Carefully peel the cooled eggs and slice them in half lengthwise. Gently remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl.
  4. Prepare the filling: Mash the egg yolks with a fork until smooth. Stir in mayonnaise, wasabi paste, and salt until well combined and creamy.
  5. Fill the egg whites: Using a spoon or piping bag, fill the hollowed egg whites with the wasabi-infused yolk mixture evenly and neatly.
  6. Add toppings and garnish: Top each deviled egg half with a small amount of cooked crab meat. Garnish with thin slices of avocado, cucumber, radishes, and sprinkle black sesame seeds on top for flavor and visual appeal.

Notes

  • For perfectly peeled eggs, use eggs that are at least a few days old.
  • Adjust the amount of wasabi paste according to your spice preference.
  • Substitute imitation crab if fresh crab meat is unavailable.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate covered for up to 2 days to maintain freshness.
  • Use a piping bag with a star tip for a decorative filling presentation.
