  • Author: Andria
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings (1 roll up per serving, can be sliced into multiple pieces) 1x

Description

French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups combine thinly sliced roast beef and melted cheese wrapped in warm tortillas, baked to golden perfection and served with a savory au jus dipping sauce. This comforting twist on the classic French dip sandwich is easy to prepare and perfect for a satisfying snack or meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Roll Ups

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef (deli style or leftover)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Au Jus Sauce

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Assemble roll ups: Lay each flour tortilla flat on a work surface. Evenly layer thinly sliced roast beef and shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese down the center of each tortilla.
  3. Roll tortillas: Carefully roll each tortilla tightly around the filling, then place them seam-side down on the lined baking sheet to maintain their shape while baking.
  4. Season and butter: Brush the rolled tortillas with melted butter, then sprinkle evenly with garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley for added flavor.
  5. Bake roll ups: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tortillas turn golden and crispy, and the cheese inside has melted thoroughly.
  6. Prepare au jus: While the roll ups bake, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook gently for 5–7 minutes to develop rich, savory flavors.
  7. Serve: Remove the roll ups from the oven, slice each into bite-sized pieces, and serve warm alongside the au jus for dipping to enjoy the classic French dip experience with a tortilla twist.

Notes

  • You can substitute mozzarella or provolone with any mild melting cheese of your choice.
  • Use leftover roast beef or deli slices for convenience.
  • Adjust seasoning in the au jus to your taste for saltiness and savory depth.
  • For a crispier texture, broil the roll ups for an additional 1-2 minutes at the end of baking.
  • These roll ups can be made ahead and reheated; just warm the au jus before serving.
