French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups Recipe

  • Author: Andria
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings (1 roll up per serving) 1x

Description

French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups are a delightful twist on the classic French dip sandwich. Thinly sliced roast beef and melted mozzarella or provolone cheese are rolled inside warm flour tortillas, brushed with seasoned butter, and baked until golden and gooey. Served with a rich, flavorful au jus made from beef broth and seasonings, these roll ups make a perfect comforting appetizer or meal that’s easy to prepare and irresistibly tasty.

Ingredients

Scale

Roll Ups

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef (deli style or leftover)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Au Jus

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Assemble the roll ups: Lay the flour tortillas flat on a clean surface. Evenly layer the thinly sliced roast beef and shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese down the center of each tortilla.
  3. Roll tortillas tightly: Carefully roll each tortilla tightly around the filling, then place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet to keep them from unrolling during baking.
  4. Season and butter: Brush the rolled tortillas generously with melted butter. Then sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley evenly over the tops to add a wonderful flavor and aroma.
  5. Bake the roll ups: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the tortillas become golden brown and the cheese inside has melted completely.
  6. Prepare the au jus: While the roll ups bake, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, letting it cook gently for 5 to 7 minutes so the flavors meld beautifully.
  7. Serve: Remove the roll ups from the oven and slice them into smaller sections if desired. Serve warm with the freshly made au jus on the side for dipping, enhancing the savory beef and cheese flavors.

Notes

  • Use leftover roast beef or thinly sliced deli-style roast beef for convenience.
  • Feel free to substitute mozzarella or provolone cheese with other melting cheeses like Swiss or cheddar to vary the flavor.
  • For a crispier tortilla, broil the roll ups for the last 1-2 minutes of baking but watch carefully to avoid burning.
  • The au jus can be made ahead and reheated when ready to serve.
  • Adjust seasoning in the au jus according to taste preferences.
  • These roll ups are best served fresh but can be refrigerated and reheated gently.
