It’s an elegant yet simple dish that brings restaurant-quality flavors to your dinner table using everyday ingredients and stovetop cooking.
Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Seasoning
- 4 pieces ribeye steaks (about 1-inch thick, 8 oz each)
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Sauce and Garnish
- 4 tablespoons butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season the Steaks: Evenly season both sides of the ribeye steaks with salt and pepper to enhance their natural flavor.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and melt 2 tablespoons of butter until it is bubbling.
- Cook First Side: Add the steaks to the hot skillet and cook undisturbed for about 4-5 minutes to develop a good sear.
- Flip and Add Garlic Butter: Turn the steaks over using tongs, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and the minced garlic to the skillet, then cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare doneness, spooning the garlic butter over the steaks.
- Rest the Steaks: Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
- Prepare Parmesan Cream Sauce: Reduce heat to medium, pour in the heavy cream, and whisk continuously while scraping up any flavorful browned bits at the bottom of the skillet.
- Thicken the Sauce: Add grated Parmesan cheese and continue whisking until the sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
- Season Sauce: Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve: Slice the rested steaks, plate them, drizzle the Parmesan cream sauce on top, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
Notes
- For a more well-done steak, increase cooking time by 1-2 minutes per side.
- Use fresh Parmesan cheese for the best flavor and smoother sauce consistency.
- Letting the steak rest is important to keep it juicy and tender.
- Pair this dish with steamed vegetables or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
- If preferred, substitute ribeye with sirloin or filet mignon steaks.
