Description

This Loaded Baked Potato Chip Dip is a creamy, cheesy delight perfect for parties and gatherings. Combining softened cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese, green onions, and crispy bacon, this dip offers a savory and satisfying flavor that pairs perfectly with crunchy potato chips. Easy to prepare and quick to cook, it can be made either in the microwave or oven for a warm, gooey snack everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Base

  • 2 packages cream cheese (8 oz each), softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream

Add-ins

  • 6 green onions, sliced and divided
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 3/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon, divided

Instructions

  1. Mix the Base: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Stir together until smooth and well blended to create a creamy base for the dip.
  2. Add Flavorings: Fold in 5 of the sliced green onions, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and 1/2 cup of the cooked and crumbled bacon. Mix thoroughly to distribute flavors evenly.
  3. Prepare for Cooking: Spread the mixture evenly in a deep dish pie plate or a similar sized baking dish (approximately 1-2 quarts). Ensure the dish you use is microwave safe if microwaving, or oven safe if baking.
  4. Add Toppings: Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the top of the dip mixture to create a cheesy crust.
  5. Cook the Dip: For microwave cooking, cover the dish with plastic wrap and heat on high for about 5 minutes until hot and bubbly. For oven cooking, bake uncovered in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for about 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and the dip is heated through.
  6. Final Garnish: Once cooked, remove from heat and top with the remaining sliced green onions and remaining 1/4 cup of cooked bacon. Serve immediately while hot with potato chips for dipping.

Notes

  • The dip can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator; just heat before serving.
  • You can substitute cheddar cheese with a sharp or smoked variety for added flavor.
  • For a lighter version, consider using low-fat cream cheese and sour cream.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add some diced jalapeños or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper.
