Oven-Baked Cheesy Tacos Recipe

  • Author: Andria
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 sticks 1x

Description

These Ham and Cheese Sticks are a delicious and easy appetizer or snack featuring flaky crescent dough filled with savory ham and gooey cheddar cheese. Coated with a buttery, tangy glaze topped with poppy seeds, they bake to a golden perfection that’s perfect for parties or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough and Filling

  • 2 tubes crescent dough sheets
  • 1 pound deli-sliced ham
  • 8 cheddar cheese sticks

Butter Glaze

  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ tablespoon dried minced onion or onion powder
  • ½ tablespoon poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking sheet by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper for easy removal and clean-up.
  2. Prepare Dough: Roll out the crescent dough sheets on a clean surface and cut each sheet into 4 equal pieces, giving you a total of 8 pieces to work with.
  3. Assemble Sticks: Evenly distribute the deli-sliced ham onto each piece of dough. Place one cheddar cheese stick on top of the ham for each piece. Fold in the ends of the dough around the filling then roll each piece tightly to seal the ham and cheese inside.
  4. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the rolled sticks seam side down on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they have a little space so they bake evenly without sticking.
  5. Make the Butter Glaze: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, dried minced onion (or onion powder), and poppy seeds. Mix well until fully combined.
  6. Brush Sticks: Generously brush the butter mixture over each assembled stick to give them a flavorful and glossy coating.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and cooked through, and the cheese is melted.
  8. Serve: Remove from oven and enjoy your Ham and Cheese Sticks while hot and fresh for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Make sure to seal the edges of the dough well to prevent cheese from leaking out while baking.
  • You can use any cheese sticks you prefer, though cheddar provides a nice sharp flavor.
  • For a more intense flavor, add a pinch of black pepper or garlic powder to the butter glaze.
  • Serve with mustard or ranch dressing for dipping if desired.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven or air fryer to keep the crust crisp.
