  • Yield: About 24 pieces 1x

Description

Salted Caramel Pretzel Bark is a delightful homemade treat combining the crunchy saltiness of pretzel sticks with a rich, buttery caramel coating and a luxurious drizzle of melted semi-sweet chocolate, finished with a sprinkle of sea salt for the perfect sweet and salty balance. This easy-to-make dessert is ideal for snack time, parties, or gifting during the holidays.

Ingredients

Scale

Salted Caramel Pretzel Bark Ingredients

  • 4 cups pretzel sticks (Use stick pretzels for best results)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar (for sweet caramel flavor)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (white sugar for sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (enhances the flavor)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (melted for drizzling)
  • Sea salt, to taste (for sprinkling on top)

Instructions

  1. Line the baking sheet: Prepare a baking sheet by lining it evenly with parchment paper to ensure the pretzels can be spread out in a single layer without sticking.
  2. Make the caramel: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add brown sugar and granulated sugar, stirring continuously until the mixture comes to a boil. Allow the mixture to boil for 3 minutes without stirring to develop the caramel flavor.
  3. Add vanilla extract: Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully stir in the vanilla extract; expect the mixture to bubble up slightly when adding.
  4. Coat the pretzels: Pour the pretzel sticks into a large bowl and drizzle the hot caramel mixture over them. Gently stir to evenly coat each pretzel with the caramel.
  5. Spread pretzels on baking sheet: Spread the caramel-coated pretzels evenly on the prepared baking sheet to form a uniform layer.
  6. Melt the chocolate chips: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the semi-sweet chocolate chips in 30-second increments. Stir well between each interval until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  7. Drizzle chocolate: Using a spoon, drizzle the melted chocolate over the caramel-coated pretzels in a decorative pattern to add chocolate flavor and contrast.
  8. Sprinkle sea salt: Immediately before the chocolate sets, sprinkle sea salt evenly over the chocolate drizzles to enhance the sweet and salty contrast.
  9. Chill to set: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes or until the bark is completely set and firm to the touch.
  10. Break and serve: Once set, break the bark into bite-sized pieces for serving or storing.

Notes

  • Use stick pretzels for the best texture and coating during preparation.
  • Do not stir the caramel mixture during the boiling stage to prevent crystallization.
  • Be careful when adding vanilla extract as the hot caramel mixture may bubble vigorously.
  • Ensure the chocolate is melted smoothly for an even drizzle without lumps.
  • Store leftover bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
