Description
Create your own unique and colorful worry stones using soft clay or Play-Doh. These comforting handheld objects are crafted by blending colors, shaping, baking, and sealing with a glossy finish to provide a fun, creative, and soothing activity.
Ingredients
Materials
- Fimo Soft Clay or Play-Doh – 2 to 3 colors of your choice
- Modge Podge Acrylic Gloss Sealer – as needed for finishing
Instructions
- Choose Colors: Select 2 or 3 colors of soft clay or Play-Doh. Feel free to mix and match according to your preference to create vibrant combinations.
- Roll into a Ball: Combine your chosen colors and roll them together to form a smooth, fun ball of clay, allowing your creativity to flow freely.
- Shape into a Snake: Take the ball of clay and roll it into a long snake shape. There are no strict rules here, just follow your imagination.
- Spiral Twist: Twist the snake into a spiral, then roll the spiral back into a ball to create interesting textures and shapes within the clay.
- Form the Stone: Press down firmly on the ball to flatten and shape it into a smooth stone-like form. Customize the design as you like since this is your creative moment.
- Create Indentation (Optional): Use your thumb to gently press an indention into the stone for added tactile interest. This step is optional but adds to the fun.
- Bake the Worry Stones: Place your clay stones in foil pans and bake at 230 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes to harden them without damaging the material.
- Cooling: Allow the baked worry stones to cool for a couple of hours so they harden fully and become safe to handle.
- Apply Finish: Once cooled, apply a coat of Modge Podge Acrylic Gloss Sealer to give your worry stones a shiny, protective finish and enhance their appearance.
Notes
- Use foil pans during baking for even heat distribution and to prevent sticking.
- Ensure the stones cool completely before applying sealer to avoid trapping heat or moisture.
- The baking temperature is lower than typical polymer clay instructions to accommodate Fimo Soft or Play-Doh types.
- Customization options are endless; experiment with colors and shapes.
- If using Play-Doh (which is not designed for baking), consider using clay specifically intended for baking to ensure durability of the finished stones.
